The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in association with the Students Association of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (BIT-ADVA) and Computer Science and Engineering Association (CEA-BIT), successfully organized “BIT TechVerse 2026”, a 24-hour inter-collegiate hackathon on 9th and 10th May 2026 at Bearys Institute of Technology, Mangalore.
The hackathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various cities of Karnataka, bringing together innovative minds from different engineering colleges. A total of 40 teams comprising 160 participants took part in the event.
The hackathon featured three major themes namely Future Tech, Med Tech, and Rural Tech, encouraging participants to develop innovative and practical solutions addressing real-world challenges.
The event was judged by esteemed industry professionals including Ms. Vaidehi Muluru, Cyber Security Engineer at Novigo Solutions, Mr. Sumanth Shenoy, Founder of Stelna Designs LLP, and Mr. Aditya Swaroop Kedukodi, Founder of Earth Economic Forum. During the interaction sessions, Mr. Sumanth Shenoy and Mr. Aditya Swaroop Kedukodi encouraged students to actively participate in hackathons, gain practical knowledge, and understand that learning extends beyond textbooks through innovation, research, and teamwork.
The inaugural ceremony began with an introduction to the event by Dr. Mehaboob Mujawar, Mr. Mohammed Sinan, and Principal Dr. C. Kamalakannan. The Master of Ceremony for the inaugural function was Ms. Nadiya Khanum, a 6th Semester AI&DS student. In his address, the Principal motivated students for their efforts in organizing the hackathon and encouraged participants to become industry-ready professionals through innovation and continuous learning.
The hackathon officially commenced around 10:00 AM on 9th May 2026 and continued for 24 hours, concluding on 10th May 2026. Throughout the event, participants worked enthusiastically on innovative solutions under the guidance of mentors and coordinators.

The event concluded successfully with positive feedback from participants, judges, and faculty members. BIT TechVerse 2026 provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their technical skills, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities while promoting innovation and industry-oriented learning.
