BIT Polytechnic Students Visit GTTC & Gurucharan Industries

BIT Polytechnic Mechanical Engineering students visited GTTC and Gurucharan Industries to gain practical exposure to CNC machining and manufacturing.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at BIT Polytechnic, Mangalore, organized an industrial visit for third-year diploma students to the Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) and Gurucharan Industries, Baikampady, on 20 July 2026.

At GTTC, students gained hands-on exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies, including CNC machining, CAD/CAM applications, wire-cut EDM, die and mould manufacturing, quality inspection, and precision engineering practices. Industry experts also highlighted the importance of process planning, dimensional accuracy, preventive maintenance, and quality standards.

During the visit to Gurucharan Industries, students observed the complete manufacturing process, from raw material inspection and machining to fabrication, assembly, quality control, and dispatch. They also learned about production planning, inventory management, workplace safety, teamwork, and the professional skills required in today’s manufacturing industry.

The industrial visit provided valuable practical exposure, helping students bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industrial practices while strengthening their technical knowledge and industry readiness.
