The Library Resources and Services Induction Program was conducted Mr. Gunakara at the International Seminar Hall for the newly admitted students of Bearys Polytechnic. The objective of the program was to familiarize students with the library’s facilities, resources, rules, and services, enabling them to make effective use of the library throughout their academic journey.
The session began with a welcome address by the Librarian, who introduced the role of the library in supporting teaching, learning, and research. Students were given an overview of the library’s collection, including textbooks, reference books, journals, magazines, newspapers, e-books, and online databases.
The participants were informed about various library services such as book borrowing and renewal, reference services, digital library access, OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), previous question papers, institutional repository, and remote access to electronic resources. The library membership process, borrowing rules, working hours, and code of conduct were also explained.
The program concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students clarified their doubts regarding library facilities and services. The induction program successfully enhanced students’ awareness of the available resources and encouraged them to make effective use of the library for academic excellence.
Outcome: The participants gained a clear understanding of the library’s resources, services, and facilities, and were motivated to utilize them effectively to support their learning, research, and overall academic development.
