Department of Civil Engineering Successfully Conducted, Two-Days International Workshop on “AI Tools for Teaching & Research Productivity”

The Department of Civil Engineering, Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), Mangaluru , successfully organized an International Two-Day Hands-on Workshop on “AI Tools for Teaching & Research Productivity” on 25 and 26 June 2026. Conducted online through Google Meet, the workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, postgraduate students, and academic professionals representing 12 countries with 50 Participants from outside India and Totally altogether 300 participants.

The workshop was designed to provide participants with practical, hands-on exposure to the latest Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and their applications in enhancing teaching effectiveness, academic research, and overall research productivity.

The Day 1 sessions were started with the Introductory of Dr. C. Kamalakannan, Principal, Bearys Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, followed by Dr. Altamashuddin Khan Nadeemallah, Head, Department of Civil Engineering, BIT, Mangaluru, who delivered hands-on training on NotebookLM and Google AI Studio . Participants explored how these advanced AI tools can be effectively integrated into teaching, content development, literature review, and research workflows.

The Day 2 sessions were led by Dr. Mohammad Shadab Khan, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Computing & Informatics, Multimedia University, Cyberjaya, Malaysia. He conducted an engaging hands-on session on Google Gemini AI , demonstrating its capabilities and sharing practical applications of generative AI in higher education, research, and academic productivity.

The workshop was organized under the patronage of Dr. S. I. Manjur Basha, Director, Bearys Knowledge Campus , and was held under the guidance of Dr. C. Kamalakannan, Principal, Bearys Institute of Technology, Mangaluru , whose constant encouragement and support were instrumental in the successful conduct of the programme. The workshop was convened by Dr. Altamashuddin Khan Nadeemallah, Head, Department of Civil Engineering .

The active participation and overwhelming response from delegates across the globe reflected the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence in transforming teaching, learning, and research practices . The workshop provided an excellent platform for educators and researchers to explore emerging AI technologies and enhance their digital competencies.
