REPORT ON “SAY NO TO DRUGS” AWARENESS PROGRAM

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) organized a Police-Led Drug Awareness Program on 17th July 2023 as part of creating awareness on the harmful effects of drug abuse among students and promoting a safe and healthy campus environment.

The session was conducted by officials from the Mangalore Police Department, who interacted with students and highlighted the increasing risks of drug addiction among youth. The program began with a welcome address by the faculty coordinator, followed by an introduction to the speakers.

The resource officers explained:

  • The legal consequences of drug possession, consumption, and distribution
  • The physical, mental, and social impact of drug abuse
  • The role of students in maintaining a drug-free society
  • How peer pressure and social influence can lead to harmful habits
  • Ways to seek help and support for individuals struggling with addiction

Real-life case examples and short videos were shared to help students understand the seriousness of drug-related issues. The police encouraged students to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to ensure campus safety.

An interactive Q&A session allowed students to clarify doubts and engage with the officers. The speakers emphasized the message “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life”, stressing the importance of making informed and responsible choices.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the police officials for their valuable time and guidance. The session was highly informative, impactful, and appreciated by both students and staff members.

Overall, the “Say No to Drugs” Awareness Program held on 17.07.2023 served as an important initiative in promoting discipline, safety, and well-being among the students of the CSE Department.
