Workshop :Project Selection, Literature Review Using AI Tools and Funding Schemes

The Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering at Bearys Institute of Technology, Mangalore, in association with IQAC and R&D Cell, organized a workshop on “Project Selection, Literature Review Using AI Tools and Funding Schemes” on 16th March 2026 at the International Seminar Hall. The event was held under the patronage of Director Dr. S I Manjur Basha, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of research and innovation in engineering education.

The workshop commenced at 10:30 AM with the resource persons Dr. Imran Mokashi, HOD of Mechanical Engineering, and Dr. Altamashuddin Khan Nadeemallah, HOD of Civil Engineering, delivering comprehensive sessions on the workshop themes.

Dr. Imran Mokashi initiated the technical session by elaborating on various funding schemes available for student projects and research initiatives, including government grants, institutional support, and private funding opportunities. He discussed best practices for proposal writing and documentation required for securing project funding, guiding students on how to approach funding agencies and prepare compelling project proposals.

Dr. Altamashuddin Khan conducted an engaging session on leveraging AI-powered tools for literature review. He provided practical demonstrations of tools including ChatGPT and other research assistance platforms for conducting efficient literature reviews. Students were shown how to use these modern tools to identify research papers, analyze trends, and synthesize information from multiple sources effectively.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 85 students from Mechanical, Civil, ECE and AI&DS Engineering departments along with faculty project coordinators. The interactive session allowed students to ask questions and clarify their doubts regarding project execution and funding applications. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and was appreciated by all participants for its practical relevance and timely conduct.
