The much-anticipated Sports Day “MECHSPO-2K25” at Department of Mechanical Engineering, BIT Mangalore was formally inaugurated on 29th April 2025 at BIT Arena with great enthusiasm and spirit. The event commenced with a prayer by Ms. Nisha and team. Dr. Vasantha Kumar, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department delivered the presidential address and emphasized the importance of physical fitness, teamwork, and perseverance in student’s lives. Prof. Gokuldas M Assistant Professor and sports coordinator welcomed Principal Dr. S.I Manjur basha Principal Bearys Institute of Technology, Mangalore in his absence and the gathering. Prof. Zaheer Ahmed Associate professor, Department of civil engineering encouraged the students to participate with passion, integrity, and respect for fair play. Mr. Prithviraj M, Director, BIT Polytechnic witnessed the sports day.
All the students and staff of the department were grouped into four different teams named Pistons, Ignite, Titans and Turbo. The indoor events like Chess, Carom, Shuttle Badminton, Ludo and outdoor games namely, Cricket, Football and Volleyball were conducted for the teams. All the participants participated in both indoor and outdoor games with different colorful jerseys.
The day started with a football match in the morning at Bearys Arena. Later Cricket and volleyball matches were played. Indoor games parallelly Chess, Carom Board at Geotechnical lab and Shuttle Badminton played at Material Testing lab. All the indoor game matches were concluded by 5.30 PM.
