Mangaluru: The IEEE Student Branch of Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), Mangaluru, organised a technical interactive session on “Bridging Low-Resource Language Barriers for Code-mixed Visuals” at the International Seminar Hall on Monday.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the coordinator, Dr. Abdullah Gubbi. The event was presided over by Dr. Aziz Mustafa, Principal of Bearys Institute of Engineering Sciences, who emphasized the significance of research in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and multilingual technologies.Prof. Sinan, HoD CSE was also present on the dias.
The resource person, Alhaji Idi Babate, an NLP researcher from Nigeria and a PhD scholar at Mangalore University, delivered an insightful talk on addressing challenges related to low-resource languages and code-mixed visuals through multimodal learning approaches.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Aziz Mustafa, Principal of BIES, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, organizing team, IEEE Mangalore Subsection, and all participants for making the event a success.
