The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bearys Institute of Technology organized an industrial visit to KMF Nandini Dairy, Mangalore, on February 24, 2025, for 17 students accompanied by faculty coordinators Dr. Imran Mokashi, Dr. Mohamed Kafeel Delvi, and Prof. Manjunath Ichchangi.
The visit aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practices by providing insights into milk processing, automation, quality control, supply chain management, and the cooperative model of KMF. Students observed key dairy processing techniques such as pasteurization, homogenization, and packaging, along with modern automation and hygiene standards essential for maintaining product quality.
The visit also highlighted the importance of sustainability in dairy production, including eco-friendly practices, waste management, and energy-efficient processes. Engaging with industry professionals, students gained practical exposure to the operational aspects of a large-scale dairy industry and explored potential career opportunities in the dairy and food processing sectors. This experience reinforced their technical knowledge and provided a valuable perspective on real-world industrial applications.
