Mechanical Engineering Industrial Visit to KEL Electrical Machines Limited, Kasaragod, Kerala

Industrial visits gives the students with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods, employment practices and safety procedure. It gives the students an exposure to current work practices as opposed to theoretical knowledge being taught in their college classrooms.

To get practical knowledge and to give an insight into the way things work in a real-life scenario, students of 4th-year Mechanical Engineering (23 members) at Beary’s Institute of Technology, Mangalore visited KEL Electrical Machines Limited (Formerly BHEL Electrical Machines Limited), Kasaragod, Kerala on 5th December 2023 as a part of an Industrial visit, accompanied by 3 faculty coordinators – Prof.Mohamed Kafeel Delvi, Prof.Vinod Kumar N and Prof. Manjunath Ichchangi.

KEL Electrical Machines Limited prominent manufacturer in the field of Rotating Electrical Machinery with 30 plus years of experience and expertise in Electrical Industry, and now proudly serving an envious client base including Defence, Power Projects, Space Research Organizations, Indian Railways and the General Public both in India and abroad.

The company manufacture the following products. General Purpose Alternators, Train Lighting Alternators, Power Car Alternators DG Sets, Auxiliary Alternators, High Frequency (400 Hz) Alternators, Marine Alternators, Low RPM (600 RPM) Alternators and Traction Alternators.

The outcome of this industrial visit is, the students learnt different machines required to produce alternators, Gain practical knowledge on CNC machine operations and applications, Observed winding, cutting, machining and forming operations. The students also understand the application of GD&T in engineering drawings
