The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), Mangaluru, successfully organized Project Expo 2025, showcasing innovative student projects and encouraging young engineers to transform their ideas into impactful, patentable solutions.
The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Vasanth Kumar, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This was followed by an address by Dr. S. I. Manjur Basha, Principal of BIT, who emphasized the importance of practical learning, innovation, and the role of engineering in solving real-world challenges.
The Guest Introduction was delivered by Dr. Sandeep Nambiar, Project Coordinator. The Chief Guest, Dr. Sreeharsha Hegde, Associate Professor, Department of Automobile and Aeronautical Engineering, MIT Manipal, then delivered the Keynote Address.
In his talk, he highlighted the need for students to remain relevant in the evolving engineering landscape by continuously upgrading their knowledge and skills. He stressed the importance of the “publish or perish” principle and encouraged students to refine their academic work into patentable and commercially viable innovations.
The formal session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Imran Mokashi, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, and students.
Following the ceremony, the Project Expo was inaugurated, featuring major projects by 7th semester students and minor project exhibits by 5th semester students. The Chief Guest interacted with the participants, appreciating their creativity, innovation, and practical applicability. He further encouraged them to develop their ideas into market-ready products and pursue patents to enhance the societal and commercial impact of their work.
Project Expo 2025 stood as a testament to the technical talent and innovative spirit of BIT students, marking yet another successful academic event by the department.
