The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), Mangalore, in association with MESA and the R&D Cell, successfully organized a hands-on workshop on “Design Thinking, Critical Thinking & Innovation Design” on March 5, 2026, at the International Seminar Hall of the institution.
The program aimed to equip students with innovative problem-solving skills and encourage creative thinking in engineering design. The workshop brought together faculty members and students to explore practical approaches to design thinking and innovation.
The resource person for the event was Mr. Sachin S, Regional Centre Manager of COMEDKARES, In his address, he emphasized the importance of critical thinking and innovation in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape and encouraged students to develop creative solutions to real-world challenges.
Dr. C. Kamalakannan, Principal of BIT, presided over the function and highlighted the significance of such workshops in nurturing innovative mindsets among engineering students. The program was held under the patronage of Dr. S. I. Manjur Basha, Director BKC. The event was coordinated by Dr. Vasantha Kumar. Professor, Mechanical Department.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Imran Mokashi, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Students from the Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Civil Engineering departments actively participated in the workshop and benefited from the interactive sessions and practical activities conducted during the program.
The workshop sessions provided participants with practical insights into innovation processes, encouraging them to analyze problems critically and develop user-centric solutions. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Mohammed Kafeel Delvi, MESA Coordinator.The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, making it an engaging and insightful learning experience for all attendees.
