The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) / Startup Cell of Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), Mangalore, conducted its inauguration for the academic year 2026–2027 on 6 November 2026 at 11:00 AM in the International Seminar Hall. The programme aimed to encourage students to pursue innovation, entrepreneurial thinking and startup development.
The chief guests were Mr. Puneeth Rai, CEO of AIC Nitte Incubation Centre and Charter Member of TiE Mangaluru, and Mr. Aditya Ramanath Poonja, Business Development Executive at AIC Nitte Incubation Centre. The programme was attended by Principal Dr. C. Kamalakannan, Vice Principal Mr. Mohammed Sinan, Dr. Imran Mokashi (HOD, Mechanical Engineering), Dr. Anjum Khan (HOD, Basic Science), Dr. Mehaboob Mujawar (HOD, AI & DS and EDC/Startup Cell Coordinator), faculty members and students.
The ceremony began with prayer and a welcome address. Major highlights included the unveiling of the EDC/Startup Cell logo, badge distribution to the office bearers and an oath-taking ceremony led by Dr. Mehaboob Mujawar. The newly appointed members pledged to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and integrity.
Both chief guests addressed the gathering and motivated students to think creatively, identify practical problems, develop innovative ideas and explore startup opportunities. Their addresses emphasized leadership, entrepreneurial initiative, the role of incubation centres and the importance of converting ideas into viable ventures.
Tokens of appreciation were presented to the chief guests. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mehaboob Mujawar and the National Anthem. The inauguration laid a foundation for EDC/Startup Cell activities and reinforced BIT’s commitment to developing students’ entrepreneurial skills.
