The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a community-oriented cleanliness drive titled “Together Let Us Keep Mangalore Clean” on 15th June 2022. The initiative aimed to create awareness about cleanliness, hygiene, and responsible waste management among students and the local community.
The program began with a brief inaugural session where faculty members highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean urban environment and the need for youth participation in civic responsibilities. Students were divided into groups and assigned specific locations in and around the college vicinity and nearby public areas.
During the drive, students actively participated in cleaning the surroundings, removing plastic waste, sweeping pathways, and segregating waste. They also interacted with local residents and shopkeepers, encouraging them to follow proper waste disposal practices and reduce the use of single-use plastics.
Faculty coordinators monitored the activity and ensured safety and proper execution of the tasks. The event fostered teamwork, social responsibility, and environmental consciousness among the students.
The cleanliness drive concluded with a short feedback session, during which students shared their experiences and expressed their commitment to participating in similar initiatives in the future.
Overall, the program was successful and impactful, reinforcing the message that maintaining a clean city is a collective responsibility. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering looks forward to organizing more such activities that contribute positively to society.
