BIT hosts faculty conclave 2025, highlights role of academics in nation building

Mangaluru, Sept. 20: The Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), Mangaluru, in collaboration with the IEEE Bangalore Section and IEEE Mangalore Subsection, organised the Faculty Conclave – 2025 at its International Seminar Hall on Saturday. The event brought together senior academicians, researchers, and professionals from across Karnataka to deliberate on the role of faculty in driving research, technology, and nation building.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Chandrakanta Kumar, Chair of IEEE Bangalore Section and Project Director at ISRO, urged the academic community to “wake up to the dream of a developed nation.” He emphasised the need for preparedness across service, agriculture, and industrial sectors and stressed on how faculty play a crucial role in shaping students to meet future challenges.

Speaking on the theme of nation building in a broader context, Dr. Chengappa M. R., Vice Chair (TC), IEEE Bangalore and ORAN Specialist, underlined the importance of collective responsibility in strengthening the country’s growth trajectory.

Dr. Parameshachari B. D., Vice Chair (MDC), IEEE Bangalore Section and HoD of ECE at NMIT, elaborated on the benefits of IEEE membership, while Dr. Devanathan M., Associate Professor at Reva University and SAC Chair of IEEE Bangalore Section, stressed on the need to bridge the gap between industry and academia.

A session by Mr. Subramanya Navada, Secretary of IEEE Bangalore Section, Associate at JPMorgan Chase, and National Balshree Awardee, on “AI Enigma: The Realities,” offered fresh insights into the challenges and opportunities posed by artificial intelligence.

Earlier, Dr. S. I. Manjur Basha, Principal of BIT, welcomed the gathering and expressed pride in the institute hosting faculty members from different parts of Karnataka. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Abdullah Gubbi, Head of the ECE Department, while Prof. Joyson served as the Master of Ceremonies.

The conclave also featured the presence of Dr. S. V. Sathyanarayana, Dean (R&D) at JNNCE and Chair of IEEE Mangalore Subsection, and Dr. Arun Balodi, Professor at DSU, Senior Member of IEEE, and Execom Member of IEEE Bangalore Section.

The day-long conclave served as a platform for exchanging ideas on innovative teaching methods, research, industry partnerships, and emerging technologies.
