Bearys Institute of Technology Hosts Insightful AI and Law Workshop and Post-Quantum Cryptography

Mangaluru, May 30, 2025: Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), in collaboration with  IEEE BIT Student Branch, successfully conducted an advanced workshop titled “AI and Law Workshop and Post-Quantum Cryptography” on May 30, 2025, at 9:30 AM in the International Seminar Hall.

The event featured two eminent speakers from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK — Dr. Vibhushinie Bentotahewa, Programme Director and Lecturer for BSc (Hons) Computer Security, and Dr. Chaminda Thushara Hewage, Associate Dean of Research at the Cardiff School of Technologies and Reader (Associate Professor) of Data Security.

The program commenced with a formal welcome address by the Principal of BIT, Dr. S. I. Manjur Basha, who highlighted the increasing relevance of secure digital communication and ethical implications of AI in the modern world.
Dr. Vibhushinie shed light on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and legal frameworks, stressing the importance of integrating law and ethics in emerging technologies. Dr. Chaminda delved deep into the research, emphasizing the urgency of preparing for a quantum future where traditional cryptographic techniques may become obsolete.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Abdullah Gubbi, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, whose efforts ensured the smooth execution and academic richness of the workshop. He also delivered the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the distinguished guests, organizing committee, and enthusiastic participants.

The workshop marked yet another milestone for BIT in fostering academic excellence and global collaboration in cutting-edge technological domains.
