The Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA), in collaboration with the NSS Unit of BIT, Mangalore celebrated “VANAMAHOTSAVA” on July 4, 2024. The event was aimed at promoting environmental awareness and conservation among students and faculty.
Dr. Vasantha Kumar, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, emphasizing the significance of “VANAMAHOTSAVA” and the role of students in environmental conservation.
Dr. Prashanth Naik, Professor Biosciences Department at Mangalore University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Naik addressed the importance of nature conservation and encouraged students to engage in projects that contribute to environmental sustainability. He commended BIT for its green initiatives on campus.
Dr. S I Manjur Basha, Principal of BIT, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of regular participation in such activities. He highlighted the role of educational institutions in fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.
The event was witnessed by Prof. Abdul Latif, Principal Bearys PU College, HODs of Engineering Departments, faculty and students.
During the “VANAMAHOTSAVA” celebration, Dr. Prashanth Naik, Dr. S I Manjur Basha, faculty members, and students actively participated in a tree plantation drive, collectively planting numerous saplings across the Bearys Knowledge Campus.
Prof. Arvind Kumar served as the coordinator for the event, ensuring the smooth organization and execution of activities throughout the day.
