Training program on IEEE Xplore, EBSCO engineering suite held at BIT

Mangaluru: A training program on IEEE Xplore and the EBSCO Engineering Suite was held at Bearys Institute of Technology on February 10, 2026, at the International Seminar Hall.

The program was organized by the Department of Library in association with the R&D Cell of BIT to create awareness among students and faculty on how to use digital research databases for academic and research work.

The program was hosted by Ayshath Shama, a first semester CSE–IoT student. The session began with a welcome address by Gunakara D, Librarian of Bearys Institute of Technology.

Prof. Mohammed Sinan, Vice Principal, delivered the introductory address and spoke about the importance of using online research platforms for academic projects, research publications, and higher studies.

The technical session was led by resource person M. S. Srinivasa, Training Manager for EBSCO and IEEE Xplore. He gave a clear and practical demonstration on how to access and use the IEEE Xplore Digital Library and the EBSCO Engineering Suite.

Srinivasa explained the main features of IEEE Xplore, including how to search for journals, conference papers, standards, and technical articles. He also showed advanced search methods, use of filters, and how to download full-text papers. Participants were guided on creating personal accounts to save searches and set alerts.

The second part of the session focused on the EBSCO Engineering Suite. It covered keyword search, use of Boolean operators, access to peer-reviewed journals, and citation tools.

The program ended with an interactive question-and-answer session. The vote of thanks was delivered by Rakshith M. A., Assistant Librarian.
