Overview
Objectives
To achieve global academic standards, BIT emphasizes the importance of a strong research foundation alongside effective teaching and learning. The following objectives guide the enhancement of research and consultancy activities:
- Establishing advanced infrastructure and facilities to support teaching and research
- Promoting doctoral research programs within the institution
- Aligning academic efforts with the holistic development of the region
- Encouraging high-quality research and impactful publications
- Developing a research mindset and innovative thinking among students through active engagement in academic and project-based learning.
Operations
- At the beginning of every semester, the committee develops a strategic plan for R&D activities and assigns tasks to sub-committee members through structured meetings.
- The committee meets at least twice per semester, with additional meetings convened as necessary.
- Members are notified of meeting details—including agenda and relevant documents— via group email at least three working days in advance.
- Meeting minutes are prepared and reviewed by the Principal. Once approved, the Head – R&D circulates them to all committee members and the management. These are also included in the agenda of the next meeting for review and necessary action.
- An annual report is prepared at the end of each academic year, identifying strengths, concerns, and areas for improvement in future initiatives.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop policies on all research-related matters aligned with the strategic objectives of the institution.
- Foster a conducive environment for promoting research and development activities across departments.
- Supervise and support the academic and administrative functions of Research Centers.
- Facilitate start-up funding to help initiate research projects capable of attracting external grants.
- Motivate faculty members to undertake major and minor research projects.
- Encourage and recognize high-quality research publications through suitable incentives.
- Support interdisciplinary and collaborative research efforts.
- Review faculty research publications for quality and relevance.
- Oversee the performance of sub-committees and evaluate their activities based on assigned roles and responsibilities
Composition
The R&D Committee includes one faculty representative from each department, nominated by the respective Heads of Departments. The Head – R&D is appointed by the Principal, leads the committee.
