Report on VTU Orientation Class for First-Year Students

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering conducted an informative VTU Orientation Class for first-year students on 16th October 2024. The session aimed to familiarize the newly admitted students with the VTU curriculum, academic regulations, examination system, and departmental expectations.

The programme was inaugurated by the Head of the Department, who welcomed the students and highlighted the importance of discipline, academic consistency, and active participation in departmental activities. Faculty members briefed the students about the structure of the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) followed by VTU, including:

  • Course credits and evaluation pattern
  • Internal assessment and semester-end examinations
  • Attendance requirements and academic progression rules
  • Importance of laboratory work and project-based learning
  • Guidelines for assignments, seminars, and continuous assessment

Students were also introduced to departmental facilities such as laboratories, library resources, learning platforms, and mentoring support. Faculty coordinators encouraged students to make use of available resources and adopt effective study habits to excel in their academic journey.

An interactive session was conducted where students clarified their doubts regarding the syllabus, exam procedures, and university regulations. The session helped them gain clarity and confidence as they began their engineering studies.

Overall, the VTU Class for First-Year Students held on 16.10.2024 was highly beneficial, helping students transition smoothly into the VTU academic framework and understand the expectations of the CSE Department.
