Induction Program for BIT First-Year Students (2024-25)

The Induction Program for the first-year students of Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT) for the academic year 2024-25 was held from 19th September to 30th September 2024 at the International Seminar Hall, BIT, Mangalore.

The program commenced on 19th September 2024, with a session by Dr. Shaikh Ameer Basha on “Memory and Forgetting: Techniques for Memory Retention,” which highlighted strategies to enhance memory retention and focus, essential for academic success. This was followed by a session on “Green Campus & Green Building” by Dr. Purushothama C T, emphasizing sustainable practices in campus architecture and the importance of environmentally friendly initiatives. Later, students were given a campus tour, familiarizing them with key facilities such as labs, the library, the placement cell, and sports areas.

On 20th September 2024, Prof. Abhijith Jain conducted a two-part session on “Creative Practices: Introduction to Architecture Photography,” introducing students to DSLR camera techniques and photography skills. In the third session, Mrs. Mumthaz provided an overview of scholarships and financial aid, explaining the different opportunities and the application process for government, institutional, and private scholarships.

On 23rd September 2024, the first session, led by Prof. Shankar and Prof. Gunakar, introduced the BIT library’s resources, with a focus on digital collections and online courses like MOOC and NPTEL for academic improvement. Dr. Kafeel Delvi, in the second session, discussed the National Service Scheme (NSS), encouraging students to participate in social service activities to develop leadership and community engagement skills. The day concluded with a motivational talk by Mr. Mohammed Ali Rumi on “Nurturing Leaders for Tomorrow,” focusing on leadership development and self-improvement.

On 24th September 2024, Prof. K. Laxminarayan held a hands-on workshop on art and craft in a full-day session, teaching students various creative techniques using basic materials, thus fostering creativity and self-expression.

On 25th September 2024, Dr. Nalini E Rebello spoke about the “Academic and Non-Academic Prospects of Engineering,” guiding students on how to make the most of internships, co-op programs, and networking opportunities. In the next session, the principal, Dr. S I Manjur Basha, discussed “Academic Excellence,” providing an overview of academic regulations, the Credit Based Choice System (CBCS), and emphasizing discipline and adherence to university standards. Dr. Sandeep Nambiyar then introduced students to the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in the modern industry in his session on “Upskilling in AI & ML Era.”

On 26th September 2024, the program continued with a session on “Universal Human Values: Relationships” by Dr. Chandana B R, focusing on empathy, emotional intelligence, and the importance of values in life. Mr. Mohammed Faizal followed with a session on “Personal Branding for Success,” guiding students on creating a professional image to enhance career prospects. The day ended with a session on “Holistic Values and Physical Health” by Mr. Mohammed Sinan, who emphasized the importance of a balanced lifestyle for long-term well-being.

On 27th September 2024, Mr. Mufeez led a motivational session on “Overcoming Procrastination,” offering techniques to improve time management and goal-setting. Ms. Ashwini’s session, “Future Ready,” provided career guidance and tips on improving employability through internships and skill development. The day concluded with Dr. Aziz Musthafa’s session on “Excellence Through Innovation,” encouraging students to adopt creative and innovative approaches in their future careers.

On 28th September 2024, a sports day was organized by Prof. Ansar, with students participating in various outdoor and indoor games such as football, volleyball, chess, and carom, promoting teamwork and physical fitness. The program concluded on 30th September 2024 with a valedictory ceremony, where students reflected on their induction experience, and faculty members offered their best wishes for their academic journey ahead at BIT.
