Industrial visit by mechanical department on 28 Oct 2025.

As part of this experiential learning initiative, the students of 3rd Year Mechanical Engineering
from Bearys Institute of Technology, Mangalore, visited Lands Flavour Bonda Factory, a Semi Automated Industry, Adyar on 28th October 2025. The visit was organized under the guidance of the Prof. Arvind Kumar, 5th Semester Class Teacher and the Dr. Vasantha Kumar, Head of the Department (HOD). A group of 15 students participated in this educational tour.

An industrial visit serves as an essential component of experiential learning, providing students with the opportunity to correlate theoretical concepts with their practical implementation. It facilitates a comprehensive understanding of industrial operations, production methodologies, automation technologies, and the multifaceted challenges inherent in real-world industrial environments. Such exposure enhances students’ technical competence and prepares them for professional practice in their respective engineering domains.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to observe various stages of food processing and packaging. They gained exposure to semi-automated production systems, machinery operations, and quality control practices used in the food manufacturing industry. The interaction with the factory personnel helped students understand practical aspects such as process optimization, maintenance procedures, and safety measures followed in the plant.

Overall, the visit proved to be highly informative and insightful, enhancing the students’ understanding of how mechanical engineering principles are applied in real-world industrial environments—especially within the domain of food processing and automation.
