National level Civil Engineering Technical Fest
“Bridging the gap between industry and academia is vital in today’s world. Engineering Institutions should give prime importance to make the students ‘Industry-ready’ which in turn will make the students employable” said Mr. Anil Hegde, Structural Consultant, Vimal-Anil Consultancy. Mr. Hegde was the chief guest and was delivering the inaugural address at “CONTINUUM-2014”, a National level technical event, conducted by the department of Civil Engineering at Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), Mangalore.
Dr. Palakshappa, Principal, Mangalore Marine College, Mangalore, inaugurated the two-day technical fest at BIT’s lush green campus in Mangalore and said “Human values are important for the students when they enter into industries. Participating in various activities helps in building relationships”.
Dr. Radheshyam, HOD of Civil Engineering, SMVITM Bantakal, was the guest of honour at the function.
The event is being held on 7th and 8th of April 2014. The students of BIT displayed their engineering skills by making various models like a hanging bridge, a futuristic multi-storeyed building etc. More than 150 participants from various engineering Institutes from different parts of the country are participating in ‘Tech-thought’ (paper presentation), ‘Heights and lows’ (surveying race), ‘Cad-whiz’ (Autocad drawing), ‘Crossroads’ (technical quiz), ‘Concretus’ and ‘Technical hunt’. The valedictory function of the event and prize distribution will be held on 8th April 2014 at the BIT campus in Mangalore.
