Onam was celebrated in the traditional style by students of BIT under the banner of BIT A+C Club on September 24th.  Festive decorations displayed the rich culture and tradition of Kerala. The highlight of the decorations was the multi coloured ‘Pookalam’ floral decoration, considered the symbol of secularism. Students were seen clad in traditional dresses like Kasavu and the off-white sarees with golden border.

The celebration started with shingari melam.

A formal function was held after that where all the dignitaries were welcome and ‘Ponnada’ was presented to S.K Raikar, Senior Advisor, Dr. Abdul Kareem, Principal, Prof Mustafa Head of CS department and Dr. Aziz Musthafa. Ponnada cloth woven with golden thread, such cloth presented to a person as an honour.

Main attraction of onam was the Onam Sadhya that was served with a total of 19 items that tickled the taste bus of BITians.

Post lunch many games were arranged for both students and staff as a part of celebration. To name a few Musical Chair, Matka Phod, Tug of war were played.
