The importance of life has been always taught by nature. Bearys Institute of Technology, Mangaluru (BIT) recognizes the interconnectedness of nature and nurture and believes both must come together for a complete and meaningful life. Presently more companies in the world are adopting free software to have more flexibility to modify the software to meet their demands. To create awareness regarding Free Software “its need, importance and usage”, BIT and Free Software Movement Karnataka is organizing four days Free Software orientation program. The main aim of this camp will be to mobilize thought, create awareness of tools for making a positive impact on the world using digital medium and spread knowledge for benefit of all humanity. Along with this, we aim to spread the philosophy of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and its key role in bringing positive change to the world.

The sessions are held by Kiran Chandra, General secretary FSMI, Mr. Abhinav (FSFTN), Mr. Arun Isaac (FSMK), Mr. Ramaseshan (FSMK), Ms. Rizma (FSMK and alumni BIT), Members from FSMK and FSFTN along with many Industry Professionals and software Enthusiasts with vast work experience. Around 100 participants from various engineering colleges from all over Karnataka are participating in the program. During the Inauguration, the Senior Advisor Dr.

Raikar SK, Principal of BIT Dr. Antony AJ, Dean Academic BIT, Dr. Mahabaleswarappa, BIT-Polytechnic Principal Dr. Azeez Mustafa, Department Heads and faculty were present. Program started at 10:30 AM on 19 th July 2018 and will be continued till 22nd July 2018.
