On 22nd January 2020, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering organized a Talk on IPR-Intellectual Property Rights ‘. The speaker of the session was Dr. Shreyas Suresh Rao, Associate Professor (off campus), Department of CSE, Sahyadri Institute of Technology and Management.
The gathering was welcomed by Prof. Afsar Baig, HOD-CSE, BIT Mangalore. Dr. S I Manjur Basha delivered the Introductory remarks, in his speech he gave a brief introduction on IPR and told about the importance of IPR during their journey of engineering and here after.
Dr. Shreyas Suresh Rao in his talk he explained about value of Intellectual Property Rights and how to defend them, patenting procedures and patent informatics, patent searches, the role of innovation and invention in academia-industry partnerships, trademark and copyright protection, and do’s and don’ts for researchers in the sense of publishing and patenting. Live examples and case studies were shown by the resource person. This program received a lot of positive feedback from both students and faculty members. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Mohammed Sinan, Assistant professor CSE, BIT Mangalore. The program concluded with National Anthem.
