On Sunday, December 15, 2024, the NSS unit of Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), organised a Beach cleaning drive at Ullal Beach with the theme “Clean Beach and Green Beach.”
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about respecting nature and the importance of maintaining hygiene. It also sought to highlight the need to stop littering beaches with garbage and plastic, which adversely impacts marine life in oceans and seas.
The program aligns with BIT’s vision of fostering a sustainable, greener world and developing environmentally conscious leaders.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. S.I. Manjur Basha, Principal of BIT, who stressed the importance of cleanliness and maintaining a hygienic lifestyle. Heads of departments Prof. Mohammed Sinan, Dr. Vasantha Kumar, Dr. Anjum Khan and Prof. Prithviraj, Director BIT Polytechnic were witnessed the program.
Faculty members, and NSS Program Officer Dr. Mohamed Kafeel Delvi, along with NSS volunteers and the NSS Department Coordinators, played an active role in the drive. Mr. Rafiq made all necessary permission and food arrangements. Over 300 students participated in the Ullal Beach clean-up, making it a big success.
This event shows that even small efforts can lead to positive change, helping to create a better planet for future generations.
