An industrial visit offers the students with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. It gives the students an exposure to current work practices as opposed to theoretical knowledge being taught in their college classrooms.
To get practical knowledge and to give an insight into the way things work in a real-life scenario, students of 3rd-year Mechanical Engineering (19 members) at Beary’s Institute of Technology, Mangalore visited CAMPCO Chocolate factory, Puttur on 13th January 2024 as a part of an Industrial visit, assisted by 2 faculty members – Prof.Gokuldas M and Prof.Manjunath Ichchangi.
CAMPCO is one of the few leading cooperative institutions in the Country working towards building a community of growers and farmers. The plant produces chocolates and other products of cocoa both under its own brand and also for other chocolate brands. It has a well set up manufacturing factory equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and a big number of factory workers from around the area. The visit to this industry is an excellent opportunity for students to insight practical knowledge and exposure to the functioning of manufacturing and production system.
The students will have an opportunity to tour the production facilities and manufacturing methods. Technical staff explained about production and manufacturing processes like grinding, pressing, solidification, moulding, packing etc. The students also had an opportunity to see the operation of Automated Guided Vehicle, Roller Conveyers, and Different Moulds used for the production of chocolates.
We are confident that this industrial visit will be a valuable learning experience for the students and will help them to gain a deeper perceptive of manufacturing and production process.
