On 24th June 2023 at 2:00 PM, BIT IEEE Student Branch organized a hands-on workshop on Medical Image Processing using Python. The event aimed to provide participants with practical knowledge and skills in utilizing Python for processing medical images. The resource person for this workshop was Dr. U.C Niranjan, Director of Research & Training at Manipal Dot Net, Manipal.
Dr. UCN commenced the workshop by emphasizing the significance of staying up to date with the latest technological advancements and how it can benefit students in their future endeavours. He specifically focused on the field of medical image processing and its growing importance in healthcare.
Participants were introduced to various Python libraries and tools commonly used for medical image processing, such as NumPy, OpenCV, and scikit-image. Dr. UCN provided hands-on demonstrations and guided the participants through practical exercises, where they learned how to load, pre-process, analyse, and visualize medical images using Python.
The workshop received an enthusiastic response from both students and staff members. Dr. Abdullah Gubbi, Branch Counselor of IEEE Student Branch, welcomed the participants to the event and expressed his appreciation for their active participation. Prof. Afsar Baig from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging Dr. UCN for his valuable insights and practical guidance.
