The Civil department of Bearys Institute of Technology, in partnership with the IQAC & IIC, hosted an event titled “Mentoring on Innovation & Obtaining Research Grants” on January 25, 2024. This program featured discussion-oriented sessions, also known as a “Fireside Chat,” typically structured as a conversation between two people. Mr. Aravind C. Kumar (Center Manager at Comedkares Innovation Hub, Mangalore) served as the interviewer, and Mr. Karthik Attavar (CEO of Section Infin8 (SI-8)) as the interviewee, had a very insightful discussion.
Mr. Karthik enlightened the gathering about obtaining funds for research projects, starting with mini-projects students can apply for funds at different stages of innovation, and then research approval for longer projects. He was questioned about Innovation and Research grants, and he explained very well. He encouraged the students to take minor projects from the start of their engineering program, emphasizing that students can bring ideas to reality without focusing solely on the commercialization of the product. He also explained how to apply for grants from the government for projects.
At the end of the conversation, he interacted with the students. There was a Q&A round where he explained very well and motivated the students to engage in innovation, ideation, innovation, and come up with a product.
