The Department of Civil Engineering organized a site visit for the Students of 2nd year and 3rd year, to an Under-construction site, on 16th July, 2024. They visited a 29-floor residential apartment project, Callista, at Mallikatte, Mangalore. The visit was organized at Citadel and MFar Constructions and it provided practical insights into real-world construction practices. The site engineer and safety officer provided a safety briefing, highlighting the importance of PPE and site safety protocols. The tour covered plastering and plumbing processes, foundation construction challenges, and solutions. Shear walls constructed from basement to the top most floor was an aspect new to the budding engineers. The site engineer also discussed site layout, access points, utilities, and material selection. The visit concluded with a Q&A session, providing students with deeper insights into the project’s construction methods, materials, safety protocols, and challenges.
