The importance of life lessons can only be taught by nature. BIT recognizes the interconnectedness of nature and nurture and believes both must come together for a complete and meaningful education. The vision of BIT is also to significantly contribute to a progressive, peaceful and greener world along with creating leaders in every field of technology.

In connection with celebrations of World Green Building Week [19th to 23rd Sep 2011], BITians took pride in announcing that; they stay in Unique Sustainable Green Architecture Campus, which is first of its kind in India. ‘Clean City Green City’, is again the initiative of the BIT’s parental company, Bearys Group. “I am a strong advocate of green practice and hope to make a tangible contribution in building a greener world” says Mr. Syed Mohammed Beary, Chairman, Bearys Group and Chairman of Indian Green Building Council, Karnataka Chapter.

On the eve of celebration of World Green Building week, BIT Green club organized a unique programme of its kind “BIT Green Day” where the students of  BIT planted saplings in the campus.

Formal function started with an invoation followed by welcoming of guests by Mr Sheikh Moidin K.M, Coordinator Green club. He said “Learn from nature then you learn to live”.

On this occasion, Mr Vinod Aranha, Manager, Technical Development at U.S. Green Building Council, Washington D.C. spoke about the benefits of sustainable and Green architecture. He stressed on the enormous power which nature has hidden in it. He quoted ,“Think globally Act locally” to stop global warming.

In his talk Principal Dr S.K Raikar expressed the importance of Reuse, Reduce, Recycle in making BIT green. He wished to Go green to make life green.

Formal function was concluded by vote of thanks from Prof Palakshappa,HOD Civil Engineering.

To mark World Green Building Week and to make our planet much greener, BIT Green Club planted saplings in and around the BIT knowledge campus. Students held the slogans of Go Green, one of the eye catching slogan was, ‘Go Green or Go home’. Students were enthusiastic, after planting the saplings, they went ahead and cleaned campus and took oath to make BIT as a plastic free zone.

All the Students and Staff of BIT, took an active participation in this celebration.
